NJ College Republicans Applaud Christie Reform Efforts
Succasunna, NJ— The New Jersey College Republicans applaud Governor Christie’s strong leadership in these strenuous times. Christie’s willingness to attack politically taboo issues – such as fixing ‘entitlement’ programs that are unsustainable, combating corrupt union bosses, and trying to thin out a bloated budget- is a bright light in New Jersey’s dark fiscal environment.
The New Jersey College Republicans join the College Republican National Committee in telling our governments “Don’t Put Your Debt On Our Tab.” The nationwide program, launched this week, encourages College Republicans and all Americans to call on members of Congress to address spending. The New Jersey College Republicans, in turn, encourage not only our Members of Congress, but also our State Legislators here in New Jersey to cut spending.
Both New Jersey and America are not too big to fail, but our government- both local and federal- is too bloated for us to prosper. For eight years Governors McGreevy, Codey, Corzine and New Jersey Democrats have installed policies that have bankrupted the state. Governor Christie has a new plan, a plan that will instill real sustainable change for New Jersey.
On the budget he refused to raise taxes- because he realized that raising taxes on the highest-taxed citizens in America, the people of New Jersey would be given another incentive to leave the state.
Some of Christie’s proposals will be a tough pill to swallow- but will prove to be the proper medicine to combat the fiscal nausea that New Jerseyans are suffering from. Our government is too bloated, and we must use conservative budgetary measures to put our budget on the fiscal diet is so badly needs to survive. What’s not to love about our Governor? He is doing exactly what he promised during his campaign- a rarity in politics these days. Ronald Reagan once proclaimed, “we must act today to preserve tomorrow”, and that is exactly what the reforms Christie has given New Jersey will do.
